Thursday will be largely sunny, though the sky will be frequently crossed by high-altitude veil clouds, and the atmosphere will also be somewhat yellowed by the presence of Saharan sand. Beginning of a Foehn episode in the lateral valleys and the Upper Valais. More cloud build-up south of the Simplon Pass, but little to no precipitation. Warm temperatures during the day. Forecast temperatures in the Rhône plain: lows of 16 to 18°, highs of 29 to 31°. In resorts around 1500m: lows of 12 to 15°, highs of 24 to 25°. On the summits: 12/21° at 2000m, 7/12° at 3000m. Freezing level: 4400m. Gusts of Foehn in the Rhône plain, more noticeable in the Upper Valais in particular. Strong southerly winds in the high mountains (wind gusts sometimes exceeding 75 km/h around 2500m).

Friday: first local showers possible from the morning ahead of a rain and thunder disturbance, bringing precipitation to all regions during the afternoon as the foehn ends. Maximum temperatures between 22 and 25°, 19° at 1500 m. Saturday: some residual cloud in the morning and cloud formations also remaining near high ground during the day. Otherwise, largely sunny conditions under a sky crossed by some cirrus veils. Maximum temperatures around 24 to 27°, 19° at 1500 m. Sunday: very sunny weather and excellent visibility. At most, a few rare cumulus clouds over the mountains in the afternoon. Maximum temperatures around 27 to 29°, 21° at 1500 m. Evolution between Monday 31/08 and Wednesday 2/09 is still quite poorly defined due to the probable passage of several weakened disturbances. Weather could thus be variable to changeable with some areas of showers, but also long sunny spells. Maximum temperatures ranging between 24 and 27°, and 17 to 19° at around 1500 m. Possible establishment of a new high-pressure ridge during the second half of next week, with temperatures within seasonal norms or even fully summery.
